UCSF PEHSU: Our Team

 

Valerie Gallardo-Buenrostro is the Program Coordinator for the Western States Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit. She received her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology with a concentration in Medical and Biological Anthropology, and a minor in Global Poverty and Practice (GPP) with an emphasis on Health Disparities from the University of California, Berkeley. Ms. Gallardo’s interest in the medical and public health field emerged while traveling abroad to Peru and Argentina where she participated in a medical brigade whose mission is to establish sustainable healthcare systems specifically designed to bring care to underserved communities. Her future plans are to pursue an MD in Neurology or General Medicine and an MPH in either infectious diseases or epidemiology. Her interests involve community outreach, research translation and dissemination of educational health resources. Her hobbies include running, painting, blogging, and photography.
